Inbox Zero
Oh my god.

I just watched a video of a Merlin Mann talk in which he explains how to get control of your email.

I just moved everything out of my personal and work inboxes. I feel so ill-equipped to procrastinate now. LJ to the rescue, eh?

I've been trying to do the inbox zero thing for a while now. I get antsy now if I have more than half a dozen things in my inbox.

I also try hard to follow the GTD system. Sometimes it's difficult to adapt to academia, and I struggle with that. (For that purpose, so far I have found "How to Write a Lot" useful.)

I have a small moleskine notebook that never leaves my side &em; I try to be diligent about writing things down as soon as I think of them then forget about it until I process it into OmniFocus.

I still find new and interesting ways to procrastinate, but I'm getting much better than I used to be.

Unfunny: well, nobody wins points by talking to googlers about how rich and spoiled they are. His style IS more fun than your average productivity author, though.

yeah - the joke about the laundry was pretty stupid and more exposed a sense of self-inadequacy? probably a bit of jealousy.

it was better than most productivity authors tho.

i suppose a lot of us *are* spoiled, though sometimes it doesn't feel like it. we have drycleaning service at genentech as well - it's better than the place around the corner from my house, and more convenient. ;)
